I have to mention that the link above is not the exact same pack we used.  The only real difference is an extra bottom storage compartment.

The first time we used our Kelty Kid carrier was on our trek to the Hike Inn, which is a 5.5 mile hike through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Prior to our trip I knew some areas would be strenuous and I was dreading the idea of holding a 2 year old on one are and a 75L pack on my back.  We do a fair bit of hiking and we are expecting our second daughter, so it made sense to make an investment into a kid carrier like this so we could bring the kids with us and not feel like treks like this were out of our reach until they were older. With the right gear you can go anywhere in any weather, the key is being properly prepared.

I will say the one disadvantage to this bag is that it doesn't include a rain/sun shade.  You can purchase an attachment but it would be nice if it were just included.  Otherwise this kid carrier is great, it is fully adjustable for your child's comfort as well as yours.  There were a couple times on the trail that my wife and I switched packs and it was very easy to adjust on the fly.  This is a huge bonus considering I am 6'2" and she is 5'1".

The hike in took us nearly 4 hours, although we did stop to eat lunch on the trail.  My daughter rode in the pack 90% of the time and was very comfortable.  While at times she did get restless from being bound to my back, this was to be expected carrying a 2 year old.  All is all I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family and we look forward to adding a few more miles to this Kelty Kid carrier over the next few years.
