The Warbonnet Blackbird XLC is by far the most comfortable hammock I have laid in. Upon first opening I was blown away at the quality of hammock I just received. It is made of extremely durable material, the stitching was high quality and the well thought out design certainly justify the cost for those of us to love to camp in a hammock. After you have been hammock camping for a while you start to become aware to the small design enhancements that would make your experience even better. The Blackbird by Warbonnet incorporates all of those ideas into one thought out ultimate backpacking hammock.
The overall size of the hammock while packed in its stuff sack is much larger than the hammocks I am use to carrying, but the weight is not much different. Actually the adjustable webbing/buckles I decided to go with are considerably lighter that the ENO Atlas Straps. The hammock comes with a built in Ridgeline for the bug netting that I appreciate, as well as a side storage shelf to keep your shoes or water bottle in while sleeping.
An optional piece is the winter top which takes the place of the removable bug net and completely encapsulates you in the hammock adding 10-15 degrees heat for sleeping in the cold. It is a $75 adder to the purchase price and needs to be added when you purchase your hammock. It can't be added after because they are a matched set.
If you are an avid hammock camper and backpacker, it is hard to beat the comfort and protection of this hammock. It is just large enough to provide all the space you need with out feeling claustrophobic and just small enough to take with you on the A.T. Most of the gear that I review I end up passing along to friends or family, but I think I just found my new favorite piece of gear.
